The Essex Group have worked with Hardenhuish school over many years and many projects, so we were extremely happy to work with them again on their latest project to offer suggestions and supply furniture for the layout of two new student common rooms.

Hardenhuish school wanted to give their students the benefit of an inviting common room area that would be both a comfortable and practical space for them to carry out their informal study, mingle with friends and enjoy non classroom time.

Our suggestions gave the students plenty of soft seating that could be reconfigured easily by them, to make the best use of the space they had and as their needs changed.

Our brief was to give a bright and colourful environment, which would be durable and usable by all of the students and cater for those with limited movement to ensure that areas were accessible by wheelchair users.

Our design offered configurable seating which came in soft edged shapes that fitted snugly together to form many different layout combinations. Our choice ensured the students gained maximum benefit from the furniture and the furniture we provided was light and compact for them to move easily themselves.

Our segment seating in green and yellow gave the area a warm and modern look that met the brief of bright and colourful perfectly, creating a cheery look to the rooms.

Additional circular stool seating in the same green and yellow were chosen to sit nicely alongside the segment seating to give even more seating combinations. Again, these were easily manoeuvrable and manageable for the students.

To complement the seating design, we provided green and yellow coordinating square soft edged coffee tables with the added practicality of vinyl top surfacing to make hygiene and cleaning easily managed.

As with all of the projects we are asked to work on, whether it be a design, supply or the full installation, one thing they have in common is the need for us to offer durable education furniture that will stand the demands placed on it by many students and provide many years of comfortable service.

Our main considerations are to offer a choice of designs and products that provide the maximum benefit for the space available and give our clients a range of options for their projects.

Many of our pieces have the ability to be configured differently and easily, with many also having the ability to nest or stack, to save space when space is needed or storage space is limited. We aim to make our installations adaptable and changeable by the students themselves wherever possible, as was the case with our design and furniture suggestions for the Hardenhuish student common room design and furniture.

What the client had to say

Always a pleasure working with The Essex Group Interiors. A good professional approach and even the Managing Director along with his management team get stuck in to meet the necessary deadlines. Orders are made simplistic , and the installation team also carry out a first rate delivery and build service.

Damaged furniture is always noted and replaced without fuss. There are many companies offering the same product and service, however they rarely provide the service and after sales levels of the guys at The Essex Group.
